هناك العديد من التطبيقات الخطرة على متجرجوجل بلاى، وعلى الرغم من الجهود التى تبذلها شركة جوجل لحماية مستخدمى هواتف أندرويد، فغالبًا ما تتسلل التطبيقات الضارة، وفى وقت سابق من هذا العام، أعلنت جوجل أنها أزالت ما يصل إلى 700000 تطبيق سىء من متجر "جوجل بلاى" خلال عام 2017، وهذا العام أيضًا اكتشف باحثون من شركات أمنية مثل سيمانتيك و ESET العديد من البرامج الضارة المخفية على متجر Google Play.
