The Sharjah Police have warned beach-goers to be cautious while swimming in the beaches in the emirate during summers.
A top official said that the police have installed warning signboards in dangerous zones which have high currents. "The swimmers must follow weather forecasts before going to the beaches." No drowning accidents have been reported during the Eid holidays, he added.
The official also urged parents to keep an eye on their children when they go for picnics in beaches like Al Mamazar.
Precautionary measures have been taken to prevent water bike accidents which have caused injuries and even fatalities.
"Sharjah Police have also launched inspection and crackdown on jet skiers who ride too close to the shore," he said.
He urged the public to inform the rescue units deployed on the beaches in case of any accident and emergency. "Sharjah Police, during religious holidays and vocations, are always on stand-by to tackle any kind of emergency."
The Sharjah Police calls on the people to interact and cooperate with the police and report any incident or misconduct by calling 901 during non-emergency, and 999 in case of any emergency.
