Valence - Arab Today

Several people have been injured after a military patrol guarding a mosque in the French town of Valence, Drome, opened fire on a car that appeared to want to ram them, Russia Today quoted local media as saying.

The driver of the car did not stop after being told to do so, Le Parisien reported, so the patrol opened fire on the vehicle. The driver and another person in the car were injured.

There also appear to be injuries among the patrol and mosque worshipers.

One of the soldiers was hit by the car, according to an independent journalist at the scene, while a stray bullet hit a worshiper, the Dauphiné Libéré news outlet reports.

The driver has been detained. His motives are unclear.
