Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said on Saturday that the government will prepare a bill amending the protest law after the Supreme Constitutional Court ruled one of its articles unconstitutional.
The draft law will be presented to the Cabinet, Ismail told reporters at the Cabinet's headquarters.
The government is mulling over imposing a progressive tax, he said, adding that the Finance Ministry will come up with a vision on the planned tax by the end of this month to be presented to the Cabinet.
He added that all petroleum products are available in the local market and there is no problem in production and distribution.
By the beginning of the new year, a number of new gas fields will start production, he said.
He asserted that the government has increased subsidy in the ration cards and is working to increase the number of households benefiting from the Takaful and Karama (Solidarity and Dignity) Program to reach 1.7 million at a cost of $2.5 billion.
The government is also working on providing medicines and fertilizers in the local markets.
