Jordan and Egypt, Thursday, agreed to press ahead with efforts to boost cooperation in all domains and to implement all agreements signed between the two countries.

Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Mulki and his Egyptian counterpart Sherif Ismail co-chaired the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee and discussed means to enhance the joint cooperation, serving both countries’ interests.

The two premiers affirmed they see eye-to-eye on various challenges facing the Middle East, mainly terrorism, and reiterated the importance of fighting this pandemic at all fronts.

The two countries agreed to set up a Jordanian-Egyptian Consultative Investment Board, comprising investors from various industries. They also agreed to renew an agreement to cut fees on ships passing through the Suez Canal, en route to Aqaba port.

The meeting underscored the key role played by the private sector to boost the economic, trade and investment ties between Jordan and Egypt. Further, the committee discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the tourism, cultural, water, ICT, energy, media, security, customs and SMEs domains.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached to increase the number of flights between Amman and Cairo for one year as a pilot phase, and to assess the trial before the committee convenes next year.

Further, the two sides discussed means to ease access of the Jordanian drugs into the Egyptian markets, from 32 to 60 drugs.

The two premiers signed the minutes of the meetings of the 27th session of the committee.

Meanwhile, the two countries signed seven agreements and MoU and an executive program, that aim to cement ties and boost investment and economic cooperation between Jordan and Egypt.
