
Egypt was on the right track in 2016, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail asserted on Thursday.
During the cabinet’s last meeting in 2016, Ismail hailed the efforts exerted by all ministers and the parliament over the year.
Also, the premier thanked various state bodies for their cooperation and the Egyptian people for their understanding of harsh economic conditions that Egypt is going through nowadays.
The government is working on the implementation of a large number of development projects, notably the energy, sewage and social housing projects, Ismail added.
A number of gas fields will go into service at the beginning of the second half of 2017, while Zohr gas field will start operation at the end of the year, Ismail noted.
Also, a host of projects in the fields of supply and logistics are underway, the prime minister said.
As for the health sector, Ismail underlined that the cabinet has approved the law of the Egyptian Food Safety Authority (EFSA) that was referred to the parliament for approval.
A raft of new laws, including on the local administration, health insurance and social insurance, have been agreed upon by the cabinet, Ismail emphasized.
The government has reached an agreement with pharmaceutical companies to solve the medicine crisis, Ismail stressed, saying that the cabinet is keen on providing drugs for all citizens at affordable prices.
Egypt preserves its relations with all Arab countries, Ismail noted, pointing out that the Egyptian state adopts clear stances on the Yemeni, Syrian and Libyan crises, out of its keenness to maintain the unity and stability of those countries.
Furthermore, Egypt enjoys good relations with all world countries, Ismail affirmed, expressing his hope for restoring tourism inflow in Egypt during the coming year.
