A minute of silence was held outside city hall here on Monday for the victims of the attack that killed four and injured 15 others after a hijacked truck rammed into a crowd on a busy pedestrian street here on Friday.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and members of the Swedish royal family attended the ceremony. Representatives from the diplomatic corps, members of parliament, and the city and county councils were also present, Swedish Television reported.
After the minute of silence -- when traffic in Stockholm stood still -- Lofven gave a speech, saying: "I have thought so much about those of you who lost someone. You are not alone. All of Sweden mourns with you."
Praising the police, emergency services and volunteers who helped out during and after the attack, he said, "I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
A minute of silence was also observed in several places around the country. After Friday's truck attack, nine people are still receiving treatment at hospitals in the Stockholm area. Two of them are in critical condition. A child who was treated Sunday at a hospital has been released, Radio Sweden reported, citing information from the Stockholm County Council.
