His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa delegated Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa to attend a ceremony during which new Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command and Commander of the Fifth Fleet Vice Admiral John Aquilino took over from his predecessor Vice Admiral Kevin M. Donegan.

The handover ceremony was held at the US military base in Juffair. Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa conveyed greetings and congratulations from HRH the Premier to Vice Admiral John Aquilino on the new position, wishing him success.

They also conveyed HRH the Premier’s thanks to outgoing Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command and Commander of the Fifth Fleet Vice Admiral Kevin M. Donegan for his strenuous efforts during his tenure to strengthen defence cooperation.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa hailed strong bilateral relations binding Bahrain and the US in all fields.

Vice Admiral John Aquilino expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States, stressing his country’s keenness on strengthening historic relations with Bahrain.
