
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, and First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, has met with Dr. Saber Hossain Chowdhury, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU, on the sidelines of the meetings of the 133rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the FNC and the IPU in various fields, as well as important topics on the agenda, especially with regard to development, the fight against terrorism and the situation facing the world.
Dr. Amal emphasised the UAE Parliamentary Division's enthusiasm to participate in all activities and meetings of the IPU, the submission of proposals, initiatives and ideas that deal with various issues, as well as cooperation in providing logistical support for the development of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
For his part, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union hailed the active role of the UAE Parliamentary Division in the Union and its contribution of useful proposals for all countries of the world.
Dr. Al Qubaisi, in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, said that the meeting came within the framework of activating the cooperation agreement that was signed with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, considered the first of its kind at the level of the Arab world.
The meeting was attended by a number of members of the FNC and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
