Zayed Khalifa bin Qusmoul Al Suwaidi, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and Member of the Executive Office of the Asian Taekwondo Union, said that the UAE will strengthen its stature in the sport of taekwondo, to become a leading participant in all future championships.

These remarks came during meetings of the Executive Council and the General Assembly of the Asian Taekwondo Union, which discussed many issues related to supporting the sport of taekwondo internationally, as well as strengthening the communication between the sport’s various unions.

During the meeting of the Executive Council, its new members were introduced and their required tasks and duties for the upcoming period were distributed. They also reviewed the bids of countries aiming to host continental and international championships, and offered them support.

The Executive Council discussed, with the countries bidding to host future tournaments, the new system of the training demonstrations and licensing sessions for instructors. It also reviewed the notes and reports on the union’s current and previous financial year.

During the meeting of the General Assembly, the new members were introduced and discussed many current topics, most notably the hosting of upcoming championships.

The meetings, which were attended by Rashid Al Khadim, Secretary-General of the UAE Taekwondo Federation, were held on the sidelines of the President’s Cup, which is being hosted by Uzbekistan, and is classified as "G2," which is one of the major taekwondo championships held in various continents.
