our life is civil… not salafi

Osama Al Rantissi
What happened in Maan was really serious by all means, and is not less dangerous from what happened last year in Al-Zarkaa when the Salafi’s swords (metal or plastic) rose in a sit-in which was the first sit-in at the Arab Spring time. What happened in Salt and Ain Al-Basha, and what we receive from news about raising of Salafi phenomena, and some of its elements try to implement their law on the people, make us put our hands on our hearts from what we will face in the future, not only that, but also to think again in the positive look for the revolutions of the Arab world. Instead the moving of the forces of reform and change in the Arab world to gain the achievement roots of the popular revolts and protests in many capitals and Arab cities, the classifications of Salafi trends recently witnesses a significant activity in the Arab region as a whole, especially in Egypt, Tunisia and Jordan. As Salafis brisk suddenly in era of Arab revolutions, and they got involved in the political field directly and indirectly, despite the Salafi speech which was advice its followers to be away from politics as “from politics to be away from politics” they forget all these advices and it become clear that their new view is “from politics to involve in politics”. Salafis did not participate in these revolutions, and they keep stand either against or neutral, but they want now to steal it and jump on its achievements. For instance, In Egypt and Tunisia, and there are Salafis’ fatwa that Copts or women are not able to empower the role, to imposing veil on streets, and demolished shrines and tombs, and to cut the ear of a Christian, and to insult the non veiled women, and force them to go their homes. Scenes of destruction of mosques and shrines in Libya a few days ago makes observers remain confused about the future and the path we will go through. A prudent observer will note that the recovery of the Salafi movement in Gaza Strip came before the Arab Revolutions, although the dissatisfaction of many parties in “Salafia Jihadia” groups about Hamas movement entering to the Palestinian Authorities institutions, but the late singling out the rule of Gaza strip after the military decisive in 14th of June2007, encourage to form new groups that adopt the slogans and ideas of “Salafia Jihadia”. Since then, Hamas Movements tried to impose an extreme monitoring on these groups’ activities, fearing that these activity leave politics rhythm that the movement tries to manage it with its perspective of ruling Gaza Strip, but it comes out in a very hard way in Sinai and Rafah against the Egyptian soldiers. And after all these scenes and stories that we hear about the Salafi Phenomenon, an open question from more than 20 years and “"Jihad in Afghanistan”is killing me, what are the interests of parties that supports Salafi and allow their extremist speech to be forced in our lives? We want “our life to be civil not Salafi” isn’t it from our simples rights? The views expressed by the author do not necessarily represent or reflect the editorial policy of Arabstoday.
