The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, inaugurated a workshop to prepare diplomats taking part in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The workshop is being held in cooperation with United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) on August 13-17, during which experts will train diplomats on the work that will be assigned during the representation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the General Assembly and its main committees.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla stated that this workshop comes in the context of the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to translate the work programme of the government for the period 2015-2018, especially the programme related to enhancing security, stability and international relations. It also focuses on enhancing cooperation with regional and international organizations and conferences and meetings for the benefit of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He said that the workshop is organized within the framework of cooperation projects between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Development Program through the Country Programme Action Plan for the years 2017-2020.

The Undersecretary also praised the support of Tamkeen as well as the participants in the seminar as an important and effective addition to the efforts to upgrade capabilities and performance, and to develop and acquire knowledge and expertise within the framework of the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
He stressed that the ministry places investment in the human element at the top of its priorities and seeks to provide a fertile environment for national cadres to interact and prove their capabilities and to act as successful ambassadors to represent Bahrain abroad, in line with the royal reforms and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
He said that Bahrain is an active and influential member of the United Nations General Assembly and that it is recognized and respected thanks to the wisdom of its leader, the credibility of its policies and its conformity with international law. He added Bahrain is a leading international model of reform, sustainable development and peace.
The workshop is being held in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tamkeen to train diplomats and develop their skills during the discussions in the UN General Assembly and its main committees.
