Saudi King Salman ben Abdel Aziz
Cairo - Egypt Today

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) commended on Thursday efforts exerted by Saudi King Salman ben Abdel Aziz to enable worshipers to pray at Al Aqsa mosque.
The prestigious status Saudi Arabia enjoys among world countries succeeded in getting the international community force Israel to backpedal its restrictions as regards the entry of worshipers to the holy shrine, secretary general of the council Youssef ben Ahmed al Othaimeen said in a statement.
He lauded the pivotal role and tireless efforts of the kingdom in support of Arab and Islamic causes.
Meanwhile, the organization expressed satisfaction that Palestinian worshipers were able today to pray at the mosque after Israel removed all metal detectors.
Days after their installment of electronic gates on all entrances of Al Aqsa Mosque, Israeli authorities were forced to remove them and cave in to the demands of thousands of Palestinians who had been praying in the streets outside the shrine to protest the security measures since the crisis began.
The OIC saluted the steadfastness of Palestinians who forced Israel to cave in to their demands, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards Israel and get it to abide by international conventions that guarantee full protection of holy places and freedom of worship.
Israel installed the new security measures earlier this month after Palestinian gunmen shot and killed two police officers from within the site.
