Not applying brakes in time for school buses also attracts Dh1,000 fine.
Dubai - Egypt Today

If found rubbernecking, you will be fined Dh1,000. This is one of the traffic violations introduced by the UAE following the new amendments.
Obstructing or blocking roads during accidents will get you a fine of Dh1,000, said head of the Federal Traffic Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police Operations Department, Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafin.
The General Department of Traffic of the Dubai Police has started implementing the new amendments to the traffic law, which became effective from July 1. The number of violations has been reduced from 147 to 120.
Al Zafin said the new amendments are more comprehensive and included behaviours that were previously confusing when classified as offense. He said that fine for exceeding stipulated speed limit of more than 20km per hour was reduced to Dh300.
He added that the new list of violations also includes exceeding the maximum speed limit of more than 80km per hour which will invite a penalty of Dh3,000, 23 black points, and 60 days of car confiscation. After 23 black points, the driver's licence will be cancelled.
Al Zafin said that using a vehicle for transporting dangerous or inflammable materials without a license would attract a fine of Dh3,000 and 24 black points along with 60 days of car confiscation.
He pointed out that one of the most dangerous violations is when a driver fails to apply brakes on the vehicle at a 'stop' signal for school buses. This will entail a Dh1,000 fine as well as 10 black points.
If a driver does not move his vehicle from a traffic signal and causes a traffic jam, the offender will be fined Dh500 and get six black points.
Drivers of vehicles which take part in marches and rallies without authorization will be fined Dh500, 4 black points, and 15 days of car confiscation.
