The UAE national male safe driver Bilal Atiq Bilal and UAE national female safe driver Sara Juma Rabee Khwaidem were announced as the lucky winners of the two cars. The Dubai Police also honored the 13 sponsors of the white points system during the ceremony.

Major-General Abdulla Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, said the white point system encourages safe driving and will help the police in achieving their goal of zero accident deaths by 2020.

He said that Dubai is one of the safest cities and he said that the Dubai police is depending on rewarding the ideal driver and penalizing those who do not abide by traffic laws.

Al Zafin said that the white point system has proved successful and the numbers of ideal drivers who abide by traffic laws and honoured has increased by 700 per cent since the introduction of the white point system in the 2012.

He said that rewarding drivers give them an incentive to abide by traffic laws.

He said that the Dubai Traffic department has delivered lectures to 15000 and educated them about the amendment of traffic laws.

He said that new traffic law will reduce traffic accidents and deaths. He said that the traffic accident deaths has reduced during the past few years from 21 in the year 2007 to eight at present.

He said that the white point system was introduced by the Chairman of Dubai Police and Head of General Security Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim in 2012.

The white point system rewards drivers with a valid driving license issued in Dubai if they have not committed any traffic offences in a year anywhere in the UAE.

As part of the white point system the police will trace and monitor drivers and will reward those who will abide by traffic laws. This is done by making random checks.

Al Zafin said that next week also the Dubai Traffic police will randomly stop some drivers, check their files and they will be rewarded if they were found not to have committed traffic violations for a year .

Al Zafin said that the white point intaitve was made to ensure the safety of people. He said that the Dubai police considers road safety one of the top priorities.

He said that the all segments of society participate in the white point system  to reward good drivers to bring safety to the roads and reduce deaths.

He congratulated the winners and urged them to continue to abide by traffic rules and praised all those who have provided support which led to success of the white point system.

On his part Khalifa Al Habtoor priased Dubai Police's intiatives. He appreciated Dubai police's efforts to bring safety, comfort and security to all members if the community.

After honoring the winners, a film about the white point system was presented and it included conditions of particpation and the draw.

At the end of the honoring ceremony Al Marri, Al Habtoor and Al Zafin honored the strategic partners and all those who contributed to the success of the white point system.
