Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf received at his office a delegation from the People’s Republic of China, in the presence of the Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng. Ahmed Al Khayyat, the Roads Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Huda Fakhro, the Sanitary Engineering Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Asma Murad, the Construction Projects & Maintenance Acting Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Raed Al Salah and the Acting Communications Director Hafedh Abdulghaffar.

 

During the meeting, the Minister highlighted means of cooperation with the Chinese delegation acting as representative to the Chinese Silk Road Society, which includes over a 100 establishment and company from various countries, businessmen and real estate owners.

The Minister commended the thriving relations between China and the Kingdom of Bahrain and expressed the Ministry’s keenness to benefit from the Chinese expertise on various levels in general and the works and urbanization field in particular. Khalaf stated that the Ministry seeks to support China in enhancing the construction and urbanization industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain and improve project performance and efficiency.

The Works Affairs Undersecretary has been directed to communicate with the Chinese delegation members to look into the possibility of implementing a number of strategic infrastructure projects in the Kingdom based on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) or any other means of funding.

The delegation and officials from the Works Ministry also discussed the possibility of contributing to the implementation of some roads projects in Bahrain, including the 22km long North Highway that connects North Town to the Seef District.
