The Amir of the State of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani  in a speech at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York on Tuesday, said that the Arab-Israeli conflict can not be resolved without a just and lasting solution to the question of Palestine, stressing Qatar’s adherence to this position, which is in accordance with international legitimacy.

“Today, we are witnessing attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause by liquidating key issues, such as Jerusalem, refugees, sovereignty and borders, right to self-determination and the inadmissibility of annexing territory by force, which has become a part of international legitimacy.

“The deterioration of the situation in the Palestinian territories, especially the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the suffocating siege and the continued settlements in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank are a red flag of grave consequences, and place historic responsibility on the shoulder of the Security Council. ”

Al-Thani also stressed the importance of the reviving negotiations, pointing out that this requires commitment to the resolutions of international legitimacy, especially the principle of the two-state solution and the Arab peace initiative, and for East Jerusalem to be the capital of Palestine on the 1967 borders.

In addition, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that “whoever is silent about the injustice practiced against the Palestinian people encourages the boldness of the oppressor.”

In his address to the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, Erdogan stressed that Turkey will continue to defend the legal and historical status of Jerusalem, being the first Qiblah for Muslims, even if the world turns their back on Palestine.

To his part, French President Manuel Macaron stressed “necessity of working together” to resolve the Palestinian issue through to joint action on the basis of a two-state solution and Jerusalem as their capital, not unilateral initiatives.

The French president called on Israel to put an end to the imposition of a fait accompli. He also called for new initiatives to be introduced to lead to positive changes.
