First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa visited the Bahrain Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA), the first animal care society established in the GCC 40 years ago.

Shaikh Khalid toured the centre, located in Askar in the Southern Governorate, and was briefed on its services, which includes caring for different types of animals and providing them with nutrition and treatment that contribute to their well-being. He was also presented by the BSPCA Executive Secretary Ansar Ahmed with a detailed account on all awareness programmes provided by the centre.

Shaikh Khalid praised the centre’s outstanding efforts to protect animals, saying that the centre’s role in caring for the animal welfare is a noble humanitarian mission aimed at raising awareness of animal care among all components of the Bahraini community. He wished every success to all the members of the society in performing their duties and achieving the aspirations and objectives of protecting different animals.

The BSPCA Executive Secretary expressed gratitude to Shaikh Khalid for the visit, stressing that the centre is keen to provide all care services to animals and contribute to promoting a culture of animal welfare and preserve it in the society, especially among the youth. She added that the Center has gone a long way in this area, which will contribute to boosting Bahrain’s reputation at the international level as a civilised and advanced country.
