King Abdullah II discussed with President of the European Council Donald Tusk
Brussels - Petra

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday discussed with President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, prospects of expanding cooperation between Jordan and the European Union (EU) countries.

The King and Tusk stressed the importance of Jordanian-European partnership agreement to expand economic, investment, trade, and military cooperation.

The meeting, attended by HRH Prince Abdullah Ben Ghazi, tackled the 2016 EU-Jordan relaxed rules of origin agreement, to facilitate exporting goods to EU markets and spurring new investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

The discussions also tackled the burden the Syrian refugee crisis has caused on Jordanian economy, and the EU's support extended to the Kingdom.

The King highlighted the importance of the conference that Britain is hosting next year to support economy and investment in Jordan, where its agenda will focus on plans and programs that aim to increase economic growth and create job opportunities for Jordanians.

During the meeting, King Abdullah and Tusk discussed the EU's role in pushing forward the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, and coming up with political solutions for the crises in the Middle East.

Ministers of foreign affairs, industry, trade and supply, and Jordan's ambassador to Brussels attended the meeting.
