Tunisian President Begi Caid Essebssi met with Vice President of Libya’s Presidential Council Fayez Al Sarraj on Tuesday Ali Al Qatrani to discuss the ways to push forward the tripartite initiative of Libya’s neighboring states to resolve the current Libyan conflict through accordance and dialogue between the different Libyan parties.
Al Qatrani stressed the importance of Tunisian role to resolve the Libyan crisis and to achieve reconciliation in the framework of the Tunisian deep relations with Libya during the current critical period.
In the same context, sources revealed that the Tunisian president contacted with leader of Libyan National Army (LNA), Marshal Khalifa Hafter to discuss the recent developments on the Libyan arena. Haftar praised the importance of Tunisian role to bridge the gap of difference between the Libyan conflicting parties during the current critical period.
Haftar expressed his support for the Tunisian efforts aiming to push forward the situation in Libya, welcoming the invitation he received from the Tunisian presidency to visit Tunisia. He promised to visit the North African country in the near future.
The Tunisian president stressed his country’s support for the Libyan people, renewing his keenness to restore security and stability of the country as soon as possible to protect the Libyans from any potential threat during the coming period. He stressed the need for supporting the dialogue among the different Libyan parties, calling them for overcoming the challenges facing the country under the sponsorship of the United Nations.
