Police chief says 1,300 workers resumed work after grievances were resolved
Ajman - ArabToday

A total of 1,300 workers have resumed work after they took to the streets here on Friday, protesting against delayed salary payments, an official said on Saturday.
The protesters, employed by Abu Dhabi-based SEIDCO contracting company which has a branch in Ajman, gathered at the company headquarters in Al Jurf area of Ajman demanding payment.
Police forces moved to the site and quelled the protest. The issue was resolved and no one was arrested.
Brigadier Shaikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, told Gulf News that the company was based in Abu Dhabi and the workers lived in Ajman.
The company did not pay salaries for three months, he said, adding that police officers and personnel from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation met company representatives, who promised to pay the workers this month.

“We went to the site and spoke to the workers and calmed them down... we listened to their complaints and dealt with them immediately,” Al Nuaimi said.
Al Nuaimi warned against uploading videos of the workers’ protest on social media and spreading rumours.
“There is a mechanism and protocol at the Human Resources and Emiratisation to hear collective grievances and to mediate between employers and workers,” he added.
A comment from the company was not immediately available.
