Top Berlusconi party official urges backing for government

Silvio Berlusconi's top deputy said their People of Freedom party should vote for the government in a confidence motion on Wednesday, in an apparent break with the former prime minister. "I am firmly convinced that our party as a whole should vote confidence in (Prime Minister Enrico) Letta tomorrow," Angelino Alfano said after talks with Berlusconi.
