Rouhani asked to speak to Obama before leaving New York

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani notified US officials that he wanted to speak with President Barack Obama before leaving New York, leading to their historic phone call, a US official said. The senior official said on condition of anonymity that Iran told Washington on Friday morning that it wanted the call before Rouhani left the United Nations General Assembly meetings
