India July-September growth quickens to surprise 4.8%

India's economic growth from July to September quickened to a faster-than-expected 4.8 percent compared with a year earlier, official data showed Friday, boosted by stronger farm output following the best monsoon in years. The figure for the second financial quarter topped consensus market forecasts of 4.6 percent and was higher than preliminary figures showing expansion of 4.4 percent in the previous three months.
