Hungary cuts base interest rate to record low of 3.40%

Hungary's central bank (MNB) cut its main interest rate Tuesday to a record low level of 3.4 percent from 3.6 percent. The move, announced by the MNB's governor Gyorgy Matolcsy on the bank's website, was the 15th monthly cut in a row, and was widely expected by economists.
