HSBC logs rising profits, takes $378m hit for forex scandal

HSBC bank on Monday posted rising third-quarter net profits but took a $378 million (302 million euro) charge against probes into allegations of foreign exchange market rigging.
Earnings after taxation climbed seven percent to $3.4 billion in the three months to September, compared with $3.2 billion in the same period of last year, HSBC added in a results statement.
