Fed's Beige Book: US growth still modest to moderate

The US economy continued to grow at a "modest to moderate" pace in recent weeks, but a few regions reported slowdowns, the Federal Reserve said in a report Wednesday. Overall, contacts surveyed for the report remained cautiously optimistic about the economic outlook, "although many also noted an increase in uncertainty due largely to the federal government shutdown and debt ceiling debate," the report said.
