EU clinches agreement on 2014 budget

European Union institutions have reached agreement on the 2014 budget after tough overnight negotiations, the bloc said in a statement on Tuesday. Under a compromise which was reached, the budget will include 135.5 billion euros ($181.5 billion) in payments and 142.6 billion euros in commitments, it said.
