Titan Of The Hill, a mountain biking event, will be held in Wakan Village, Oman, on April 14, the organisers said.

Titan Of The Hill is a new competitive platform for bikers in Oman organised by Red Bull.

The mountain biking soft downhill and Enduro event is for amateurs and semi-professionals in a time-trial format.

Enduro is a form of mountain bike racing in which there are a number of timed downhill sections of trail, and a number of uphill transfer stages, which are not timed, but might have time limits to complete. In this event particpants are required to carry their bike to the top of the stairs (untimed) and then race down to the end of the village.

According to Red Bull’s website, it’s the first Red Bull event to be held in Wakan Village.

“Sitting between two valleys the location itself is unique and combines beautiful scenery, easy steps and earthy sections. It is also open to bikers from different backgrounds and disciplines (cross country bikes, enduro bikes and downhill bikes etc),” the event description on the Red Bull website read.

Riders from Oman and UAE will take part in this platform.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Oman has grown into a world-class tourism destination and is fast becoming a hub for events of all kinds.

“The country has held international championships, and has become a regular venue for some of the world’s leading international artistes to perform,” the ministry said adding that the Sultanate was recently listed among the top 10 destinations to visit in 2017.

Recently, The Daily Telegraph, Harper Bazaar Arabia, CNN, Vogue, and BuzzFeed have lauded Oman for having been able to strike a balance between preserving the country’s heritage and providing modern amenities of world-class standard.

“It is this fine balance that attracts many an event organiser to the Sultanate and makes Oman the ideal choice for conducting events of international repute,” the ministry added.

In February this year, Oman Sail hosted the EFG Sailing Arabia, which entails two weeks of world-class racing around the Gulf Region.

That’s not all - for the past five years, The Tour of Oman manages to attract top cyclists and teams from across the world.

Oman also created sporting history by becoming the first country in the Middle East to host the prestigious Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Oman.

The America’s Cup was a monumental opportunity for Oman to promote its sailing roots on an international scale. The Red Bull Car Drift 2017 was also held in Oman on March 24.
