Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Works, Veysel Eroglu on Monday called on world countries to establish a special fund for forestation. Eroglu's comments came at a press conference held in Istanbul during the 10th UN Forum on Forests. "Rich countries with high greenhouse gas emission need to spend money on forestation. Let us all come together and establish a fund for forestation. Turkey will support such a project," Eroglu underlined. Also speaking at the press conference, Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Wu Hongbo stressed that the theme of the 10th UN Forum on Forests was forests and economic development. The results of the Forum are important for a global sustainable development, Wu Hongbo underlined. Another speaker at the press conference, Jan McAlpine, the Director of the UN Forum on Forests, said that the people of the world had to have a sustainable use of trees. "We need to protect our resources for future generations," McAlpine also said.
