At least 150 people were killed and more than 100 others wounded as fighting broke out between two armed groups belonging to Missirya Arab tribe in West Kordofan state, southwest Sudan, on Thursday.
Awlad Emran and El-Ziyud fought a day-long battle in Al-Debbab area, West Kordofan, over a land dispute near the oil wells, said Mohammad Omar Al-Ansari, a tribal headman.
Local headmen from Missirya are planning to use their good offices and bring the two warring sides to a roundtable in order to contain the crisis, he added.
