Berlin - Arab Today
Japanese ski jumping superstar Sara Takanashi made it two wins from two events this weekend when she won the latest round of the World Cup in the Austrian resort of Hinzenbach. The 17-year-old -- who won her fourth successive world junior title last Thursday before going on to Hinzenbach to win Saturday's World Cup event -- recorded the longest jump of the competition, 92.5 metres, to finish ahead of Austrian Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and Julia Kykkaenen of Finland. Takanashi's 10th win in 13 events this season further strengthens her tag as favourite heading into the Winter Olympics in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi, which get underway next Friday. The event takes place on February 11 and will be the first time that women's ski jump is a medal event. Results 1. Sara Takanashi (JPN) 245.2pts (88.5 - 92.5m) 2. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT) 238.4 (89.0 - 89.0m) 3. Julia Kykkaenen (FIN) 234.8 (86.5 - 88.5m) 4. Maja Vtic (SLO) 232.0 (92.0 - 86.0m) 5. Carina Vogt (GER) 229.8 (88.5 - 85.0 m) World Cup standings (after 13 of 19 events): 1. Sara Takanashi (JPN) 1220pts, 2. Carina Vogt (GER) 761, 3. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT) 682, 4. Irina Avvakumova (RUS) 561, 5. Yuki Ito (JPN) 439 Source: AFP
