Manama - BNA
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) continues its year-round programme of non-stop thrills this Friday (November 23, 2012) when it opens its doors to the public for an exciting Open Track Day. The Open Track is one of the most sought-after experiences for motor racing enthusiasts and thrill-seekers at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”. It gives them a chance to drive their very own road cars or motorbikes along the world-class desert facility, which is one of the most modern facilities in the world. Friday’s Open Track will be held on BIC’s 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix circuit – the same track that is used for Bahrain’s largest international racing events such as the Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix and the Six Hours of Bahrain of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The Open Track gives the driver a personal taste of motorsport’s most unforgettable delights, right from the heart of the experience – the driver’s seat. There are no speed limits, and participants are free to push their cars or bikes to the maximum, all while having peace of mind as they are driving within a safe and controlled environment. Those interested in the Open Track can choose between a full day’s drive or a half-day’s participation. The whole day activity will be from 9am to 4pm and it costs BD85. The half-day sessions offer two options: the first is from 9am to 12noon while the other is from 1pm to 4pm. Each session costs BD60 apiece. Prior to taking their vehicles out for the Open Track, each car or motorbike must first be assessed by officials. There will then be a safety briefing facilitated by BIC’s highly qualified professional driving instructors to discuss the rules, safety, driving techniques, circuit information and handling emergency situations while out on the tarmac. Also as part of the Open Track Day, race fans can get into an ultra-light Caterham’s passenger’s seat. One of BIC’s highly qualified professional drivers will keep you wanting more as they take on the circuit’s challenging straights and turns at high speed. The Caterham passenger ride costs BD12 per person. Meanwhile, for a different kind of rush, a 4X4 Passenger Ride in a Land Rover LR4 will also be available to all visitors to the Sakhir track. This activity takes you down BIC’s world-renowned 5.3-kilometre off-road course, which features nearly 30 tantalising obstacles. The passenger ride costs BD12. Should guests feel like taking on the course themselves and getting behind the wheel, a 4X4 drive is available for BD65. For further information on BIC’s Open Track Day or on any of the other experiences on offer this Friday, visit the circuit’s official website, www.bahraingp.com, or call the BIC Hotline on +973-17-450000.
