England may be the birthplace of football, but Brazil is without doubt where the game was honed to perfection. Pele played a large part in that and now youngsters in Sao Paulo are eager to follow in his footsteps. Despite being one of the best players ever to grace a football pitch, Pele has never forgotten his roots and even today he remembers those less fortunate than himself. It is little wonder, as the former world champion grew up in a poor Sao Paulo suburb and cleaned shoes as a child in order to support his parents.
