Adams extradition decision due later

The brother of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams will learn on Monday whether he faces extradition to Northern Ireland to answer sex assault charges against his daughter.The 56-year-old denies the allegations.He has fought his extradition from the Irish Republic at the High Court in Dublin.The alleged offences became public in December 2009 when his daughter Aine Tyrell waived her anonymity and was featured in a television documentary.Liam Adams is accused of rape, indecent assault and gross indecency at various addresses in Belfast between March 1977 and March 1983, when his daughter was aged between four and 10.He handed himself in to police in Dublin last year after a European Arrest Warrant was issued by the PSNI.A legal challenge to his extradition began in Dublin in July.The High Court was told a complaint was first lodged by Ms Tyrell and her mother, Sarah Adams, to police in Belfast on 21 January 1987.Liam Adams' legal team are opposing his extradition on a number of grounds including the pre-trial publicity and changes to the jury selection process in Northern Ireland.The judgment will be delivered in Dublin's Criminal Courts of Justice.
