Fourteen people were killed and a further 42 were injured when a bus rolled over after hitting a truck on Tuesday south of Cairo, the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, DPA, has reported, quoting the Health Ministry in Egypt.
Three of the injured were in serious condition and were transferred to intensive care.
The accident took place on a highway near Beni Suef province, located around 120 kilometres south of Cairo.
Serious road accidents are relatively common in Egypt and have often been blamed on poor road conditions and reckless driving, DPA added.
