Two subway stations were hit by explosions with destructive elements in the Russian city of St. Petersburg Monday and so far at least 10 people have been reportedly killed and 50 others injured, according to Russian news media.

All subway stations had been closed at 3:40 p.m. local time (1240 GMT) in the second largest city of Russia, and an evacuation was underway.

Russian law enforcement agencies are working to determine circumstances of the explosions, President Vladimir Putin was quoted as saying by Sputnik, adding that all possible causes are being considered, including terrorism.
