Liverpool eased to a 2-0 win over Fulham Sunday to go to the top of the Premier League, for a few hours at least.

Goals from Mo Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri sealed victory for Juergen Klopp's side, lifting them one point above Manchester City.

"I'm completely happy," Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp told reporters.

"Apart from scoring more goals it was a really good performance. We had to work hard and we won it."

Fulham held out for 40 minutes but Salah and Shaqiri scored either side of half-time to leave the London club rock bottom.

Aleksandar Mitrovic thought he had scored for Fulham but when his header was ruled out for offside, Liverpool reacted quickly to take the lead.

Goalkeeper Alisson fed Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose pass set Salah free down the right and the Egyptian did the rest, finishing in style.

Shaqiri then volleyed in the second goal from Andy Robertson's cross and Liverpool coasted through the rest of the game to clinch a comfortable victory.

The win means Liverpool have equalled their best-ever start to a Premier League season, with 30 points from 12 games, matching their tally from the 2002/03 season.

Klopp said the only thing missing was a bit more precision in front of goal.

"You have to finish off your chances and we didn't do that often enough to have a clear result," he said.

"But I think we were focused and concentrated in the game."

Manchester City can reclaim the lead later Sunday if they avoid defeat to Manchester United while Chelsea take on Everton and Arsenal host Wolves.
