The Moroccan athlete, who specializes in 1500 meters race, Fouad Al-Kaam, revealed that he is looking forward to sparkling in the World Championships that kicked off Friday, in the English capital London, with the participation of more than two thousand runners.
Al-Kaam clarified in interview with Arabs Today that he aspires to be among the top three in the final 1500m race, indicating that he has all the elements that qualify him to achieve this achievement, considering that he is currently ranked among the top 10 runners in the world within this distance.
Al-Kaam added that all the Moroccan runners, who specialize in the 1500m race, feel major pressure, given that this race is considered a Moroccan legacy as it has witnessed the brilliance of international Moroccan champions such as Said Aouita and Hisham El Krouj.
He explained that the runners need psychological and moral support, because they are making great efforts, and sacrifice many things, including their families and personal lives in order to achieve titles and the happiness of the Moroccan masses.
Al-Kaam said that his crowning with gold medal, in the eighth edition of the Francophone Games, which ended last Sunday in the Ivorian capital Abidjan, was a moral stimulus to shine in the world championship.
He added that he was proud of the medal he had achieved after he took control of the race from start to finish, stressing that he chose to participate in the Francophone Games as a preparatory stage for the world championship.
