About 63 percent of Egyptians support the implementation of the emergency state in the wake of the two heinous attacks on churches in Alexandria and Tanta, according to a recent poll conducted by the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research “Baseera”.

The poll showed that 94 percent of Egyptians have known about the terror attacks, with 63 percent of them approve imposing the emergency state.

Around 17 percent refused the measure, while 20 percent of the respondents could not make up their mind after being asked.

The poll on emergency state was conducted using both mobile phones and landlines on a sample of 1228 citizens aged 18 years old and above, and covering all governorates.

All phone interviews were conducted from 10 to 11 April, 2017. The response rate was around 49%.

Asked on the bodies standing behind the two attacks, 71 percent of the respondents did not specify, while 11 percent blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for the attacks, 9 percent held Daesh terrorist group responsible, while 3 percent accused other countries of standing behind such terror acts
