Opening for 24 hours from 10:00am on 25th June to 10:00am on 26th June, Yas Mall ' incredible Mega Sale across 340 outlets indeed left many of capital's shopaholics sleepless.
"I am planning to shop all night. We are here to shop till we drop, literally," said Rochett, Filipino expat.
Joseph George, An Indian father of three said he wants to make the best out of the sale as they are getting ready for a family trip in India this simmer.
"We are all leaving for India in a week, and there is a big shopping list for children and gifts for family members back home. I am really hoping to get some great deals on clothing and accessories," sad George.
By 12pm, all the roads leading to parking at as Mall were clogged with vehicles, and the parking lots were already full by 11am.
"I expected the rush and hence came here early. But I took me more than an hour to get into the parking," said Habib Joukhadar, an Abu Dhabi resident.
"This is crazy. It is as though all of Abu Dhabi is thronging to Yas mall," said another shopper.
There were also people driving all the way from Dubai to grab some shopping deals.
"I have my best friends's wedding to attend in September. I have come from Dubai," said Arzoo Hamid, a Dubai resident. "I don't kn0w whether I will go back tonight. May be, I will shop till early morning and sleep in my car," said Arzoo.
Huge rush could be seen at the Ikea as home shoppers were alo treated to special deals.
"This is like a dream come true for me. I have just moved my house, and 24-hour sale in Ikea has come as perfect timing," said Jennifer, a Filipino expat.
However, some residents were also complaining about how shops were misleading them with part sale. "Some shops have announced 70 or 90 percent sale. But only s small section in the shop has such massive discounts. Rest is all going on 20 or 30 per cent," said K. Balooshi, a resident.
Another shopper said the long lines at the billing counters and mad rush is not worth all the trouble.
"I tried shopping at a few outlets. But I don't have the patience to wait for so long for a small discount," said Varsha Prakash, an Indian housewife.
Food courts were also packed and families could be seen queuing up for hours at food counters. "It is 3pm and I still have not managed to grab a burger. It is crazy busy here," said Allan Joe, a father of two.
