Chairman of the National Council for Women (NCW) Mervat el Talawi inaugurated a training course which targets 40 judges on combating violence against women.
The event is held by the NCW in cooperation with the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the Justice Ministry.
The event will run for three days and will tackle combating terror against women and raising awareness with the role of women.
In her speech, Talawi voiced her happiness over the steps taken by the Justice Ministry to raise the awareness of the judges with the issue of violence against women, adding that violence against women is a serious problem.
International reports indicate that Egypt is among the countries that suffer from women harassment, Talawi said.
She asserted the importance that the judges be aware of the issue to conquer this problem in Egypt.
