Prime Minister and president-elect Aleksandar Vucic
Belgrade - Arab Today

Repeated presidential elections ended at eight polling stations in Serbia on Tuesday, with incumbent Prime Minister and president-elect Aleksandar Vucic claiming victory the same day in the elections.
Around 9,800 out of Serbia's 6.7 million voters were eligible to cast their ballots at the polling stations in cities of Belgrade, Kraljevo, Pancevo, Vrsac, Zrenjanin and towns of Vrbas, Topola and Backa Palanka at Tuesday's repeated presidential elections, with no influence on the overall outcome of the elections.
Elections were re-held at the eight polling stations due to irregularities in the April 2 elections.
After polls closed Tuesday, Vucic declared victory at a press conference and said that according to estimates of the Progressive party, he won more than 70 percent of votes at the eight polling stations.
Thousands of people had protested for nine days in cities of Belgrade, Nis and Novi Sad against Vucic's April 2 election victory during which he garnered 55.06 percent of votes.
The election results meant that Vucic, candidate of the ruling coalition around his Progressives, will become the country's next head of state.
However, official results of the elections and the announcement of Vucic as the head of state will be further postponed, as re-voting would be held at two more polling stations due to irregularities in the elections ten days ago, according to reports.
