AU Peace Commissioner lauds Sudan efforts on achievement of security and stability in Africa and in Horn of African Region

The AU Commissioner for Peace and Security , Ambassador Ismail Sharfir, has commended Sudan endeavors on maintaining security and stability in African and in the Horn of African region.

He congratulated the President of the Republic, Omer Al-Bashir on revocation of US sanctions on Sudan .

Speaking before the open9ing sitting of the Consultative and strategic Meeting between AU and IGAN on Horn of Africa region in the Friendship Hall , Sunday, Ambassador Sharfi said the meeting being held Sudan where cultures and religions are interacted and that Sudan is part of Arab World, Horn of Africa and Sahel and Sahran region.

He said the Horn of Africa now is at cross roads and it has experienced political and security unrest and that it would transfer it to a conflict area between the international superpowers and competition of terrorist and criminal groups as well as the negative armed movements .

The AU Peace insecurity Commissioner underlined Khartoum meeting should chart the region future with aim to be united and cable of effectively facing the internal and external challenges, noting that this issue requires strong political stances and a long -term commitment by all member countries of the region of Horn of Africa and the active international actors.
