Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal
Cairo - Egypt Today

The Parliament, under Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, approved in its general session on Wednesday a draft law submitted by the government to amend some provisions of the law no. 91 of 1975 with regard to the establishment of the Police Academy.

Upon the changes, a department will be created for specialized officers at the Police Academy.

Graduates of Egyptian universities and higher institutes or those who have equivalent certificates can enroll in this department.

Also, those who complete masters degree or PhD from Egyptian universities or equivalent certificates can join the department, according to the newly-amended law.

The interior minister is entitled to determine various specializations needed by the academy and the annual number of applicants for the academy in coordination with the Supreme Council for Police .
