More than 100 people were killed during clashes
Sanaa - Egypt Today

More than 100 people were killed during clashes that broke out between forces of former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh and his allies Houthi militias, Yemeni military sources said on Sunday.

The sources said forces of the General People's Congress (GPC) - under Saleh - managed on Saturday to take over vital facilities in Sanaa and a number of other governorates, including the presidency HQ, the central bank and the finance ministry, the Arabic-speaking Sky News reported.

Saleh forces are besieging the Sanaa Airport which Houthi militias took as a haven.

Earlier Sunday, Houthi militias attacked Saleh's residence in a village northeastern Sanaa.

There are calls for a popular uprising against Iran-backed Houthi militias.

Together Saleh loyalists and Houthis have been fighting against the Saudi-backed forces which support the internationally-recognized President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi since 2015.

A statement was released by Saleh’s GPC on Friday saying that three guards were killed when Houthi forces attacked the house of Tarek Saleh, Ali Abdullah Saleh’s nephew, adding that they also besieged the residence of Ibrahim Sharaf, a party member and foreign minister of the Sanaa-based government.

"The Houthis violated the truce agreement and attacked the residence of colonel Tarek and killed three guards and wounded three others,” the statement said
