Cairo - Egypt Today

Al Azhar condemned Friday Israeli occupation forces' oppression of Palestinians' rallies and demonstrations rejecting US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In a statement, the top Sunni Muslim institution denounced Israeli forces for wounding dozens of Palestinians, some in serious condition, during the dispersal of Palestinian protesters.

It stressed its support for the Palestinian people in their uprising for Jerusalem, which is the capital of Palestine.

In addition, Al Azhar called on the international community, as well as the humanitarian and rights organisations to support the Palestinians who have legitimate right to claim back their occupied territories.

The Islamic institution praised the civilized peaceful demonstrations rejecting US decision, which took place in various capitals of the world during the recent period
