Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit
Cairo - Mena

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit called on all world countries and non-governmental organizations to respond to the World Health Organization (WHO)’s call to provide an urgent support for the Yemeni people, who are suffering from the outbreak of Cholera epidemic.
The WHO has appealed for USD 22 millions, of which USD 16 millions are urgently needed, to assist in containing the disease.
In a statement released on Thursday, Abul Gheit highlighted the dangerous situation in Yemen and called for stepping up efforts to curb the fatal disease and stop its rapid spread in several Yemeni governorates and cities to avert a wide-ranging humanitarian crisis.
Also, he underlined the suffering of Yemeni children as a result of the prevalence of this deadly epidemic, citing the death of hundreds of Yemeni children over lack of clean drinking water and proper health care, in addition to severe malnutrition.
Furthermore, the AL chief urged various world states to urgently provide USD 16 millions to eradicate this serious disease.
