Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki
Irbid - Egypt Today

Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki on Sunday opened the first phase of the Princess Rahma Pediatric Hospital Expansion Project in the northern city of Irbid that was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The prime minister, who was accompanied by a number of ministers and other officials, unveiled the commemorative plaque of the $8.5 million project that will start operation, and checked on the expansion work.
The project, which was implemented over a period of two years by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, includes the expansion of the operations theater, the Intensive Care Unit and patient care wards, and increasing the hospital’s capacity by 35%.
It aims to rehabilitate and expand the hospital to respond to the growing needs resulting from the influx of Syrian refugees and increased demand for health service in the northern governorates.
In remarks during the ceremony, health minister Mahmoud Al Shayyab said Jordan’s health sector had achieved a quantum leap, thanks to the efforts of Jordanians, who translated the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II into reality. He also thanked the USAID for its continued support to the health sector.
USAID’s Acting Administrator Wade Warren said the aid provided by his country to develop Jordan’s health sector exceeded $80 million, indicating that the total assistance to various sectors stood at $812 million.
