South Korea's President Moon Jae-in called for a "stern response" to North Korea's latest missile provocation, warning that it could bring about a "fundamental change" to the security landscape in Northeast Asia, Yonhap quoted his aide as saying Saturday.
uring a National Security Council session, Moon also instructed the government to consider unilateral sanctions if necessary, and "strong and effective" measures to cope with the aftermath of what the North claims to have been another test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), Yoon Young-chan, his top press secretary, told reporters.
"I direct the foreign affairs and security ministries to ensure that our government in tandem with our partners, including the United States, can craft a stern response to the North's provocation, including measures at the UN Security Council," Moon was quoted as saying.
"I also call for a review of our stand-alone sanctions against the North if necessary," he added.
